The location of Djupavik stole my heart. The drive to get there took about 44 km on a winding gravel road, but reaching this remote paradise felt worth every bump. I stayed in a Standard Double Room, Lækjarkot, with windows that overlooked the beautiful sea. The decor felt nostalgic, filled with artifacts that each had a story. Dinner was a highlight. The lamb exceeded my expectations, making me glad I chose to dine in. I also enjoyed the homemade soup and freshly baked bread for lunch. However, I encountered some issues. The towels were noticeably stiff and carried an unpleasant odor. The breakfast lacked hot items, which I hoped for. Room size was on the small side, and the shared bathroom setup wasn’t the most convenient. Still, the charm of the place and the engaging history provided during the herring factory tour made up for these inconveniences. The friendly staff enhanced my dining experience, making me feel welcomed. Exploring the shoreline at low tide was incredibly rewarding too.

The remote setting offers breathtaking vistas, making the long drive worthwhile. I enjoyed the cozy atmosphere, especially during dinner with fresh local fish that was a highlight for me. However, the towels were stiff and carry an undesirable odor, and I found the shared bathroom setup a bit inconvenient. Additionally, the upper floor lounge could benefit from more comfortable seating options to enhance relaxation.
